Consisting of a Duo since 1992 and exclusively dedicated to the interpretation of a repertoire for 4 hands and 2 pianos, Malvina and Filippo Renault-Antonelli have acquired over the years a maturity which reinforces the complicity and the very particular harmony of their game that had already seduced so much during their
studies in Paris, Vienna and at the Chigiana in Siena.
Their playing, rich in color and emotion and of remarkable vitality, was widely acclaimed by the press and distinguished by the 4 stars of the World of Music when they released the album celebrating the duo's 10th anniversary in 2002 and the 5 stars on the album
"Rhapsodies in Live", with George Gershwin's breathtaking rhapsody in blue.
Malvina and Filippo Renault-Antonellii have always been keen to make so-called “classical” music accessible to everyone and sought to reach an audience beyond the simple circle of “initiates”.
By relying on their highly expressive piano playing, a very charismatic presence on stage where complicity, tenderness and humor reign and effective staging tools at the service of
musical listening, the Duo Scaramouche has been able to renew the genre of the recital piano, always having great success with
audiences, especially young people.
This success is also made possible by the mastery of a large and extremely diversified repertoire, which gives a very large place to
works of the 20th century and in particular to jazz and contemporary music. This repertoire allows him to build "tailor-made" programs based on a choice of diversified works known
or less known but always strongly evocative.
Over the past few years, Duo Scaramouche has thus devoted a large part of its activity to the creation and support of original artistic projects such as the show Figures en Double (recital for piano four hands, 2 hip-hop dancers and 2 video screens), always with the aim of bringing audiences together around so-called
“classical” music.
Duo Scaramouche has also premieredconcertos for two pianos and orchestra by many contemporary composers, and made
recordings for the BBC, Italian RAI, France Musique, France 3 and Mezzo, among others.
He has performed in many halls and festivals in France (salles Gaveau, Pleyel, Cortot, Piano in Riom, Nice, Mulhouse, Strasbourg, Colmar, Nancy...) but also in Europe (London, Birmingham, Bologna, Naples , Syracuse, Lecco, Ferrara, Vienna, Linares, Granada,
Moscow, Summer Cambridge Music Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, Anacapri Festival, Dubrovnik Festival) and in the Middle East (Cairo Opera and Bahrain International Music
Festival).
At the same time, the artistic activity of the Duo Scaramouche is enriched by an educational commitment within the framework of
masterclasses (Birmingham, Stavanger) and the International Forum of Duos of which it is the founder.
Also thanks to his work, a specific diploma for piano duo (DEM) could be set up, in France, at the Conservatoire de Ville d’Avray-Chaville.
He has been artistic director of several European festivals.
